
Debra L. Lee is chairman and chief executive officer of BET Networks. She has also served as the network’s
president and COO, general counsel and executive vice president of strategic business development. Prior to joining BET, Lee worked as an
attorney with Washington D.C.-based Steptoe & Johnson and as a law clerk to the late Honorable Barrington Parker of the U.S. District Court
for the District of Columbia.
She serves on the corporate board of directors of Eastman Kodak Co., Revlon Inc. and Washington Gas & Light Company, and is also
affiliated with a number of professional and civic organizations, including Girls, Inc., Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Kennedy Center’s
Community and Friends Board, and the National Symphony Orchestra Board. A 1976 graduate of Brown, she went on to earn her J.D. from Harvard Law
School and M.P.P. from Harvard University. Lee served on the Board of Trustees from 1994 to 2001.
